The new Audi R8 will share a platform with Lamborghini’s latest track weapon the Huracan, but new spy photos reveal the two will share much more than a chassis.
Spotted testing at the Nurburgring, one of the R8 prototypes was not wearing any interior camouflage, revealing a fully-digital gauge cluster just like the one found in the Huracan. We can also see a new steering wheel and chrome-ringed air vents.

As mentioned, the new R8 will ride on the same platform as the Huracan, which is a lightweight aluminum/carbon fiber hybrid chassis that should help the car lose between 100 and 200 pounds. Engine options are still unknown, though rumors suggest that the 560-hp twin-turbo V8 found in the RS6, RS7 and S8 will be fitted as the base engine. At the top end, there will still be a naturally aspirated V10.
Both will be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG.
As for exterior style, much of the new design is hidden underneath fake body panels that have been painted black to match the car, making any changes hard to discern.
